Bounty Strategy Game.

Earlier today my sisters from the block hood started a debate about bounty campaigns. After making a promise to the one and only Jen Greyson, I decided to expand from a simple Telegram chat. Here goes nothing…

Social media bounties can always help. That’s the mindset we all have when we think about it. From a viral marketing perspective. I’m not new to the game in saying social shares matter in getting our messaged optimized, whether it is a landing page, product page, or ICO. And well, being the talk of the Internet is something every blockchain startup wants.

But, maaaan, doing an ICO (recently referred to as token generation event, ahem), and having to deal with all those crappy messages, lack of quality, and fake accounts that pretend to be the best bounty hunters… Doesn’t it drive you crazy? We’d need a 10-days retreat every month to keep staying sane. Just makes you wonder…

Will the real bounty hunters please stand up?

I’ve got news for you. There aren’t really any. So you gotta work your ass twice as much to get the quality you want. Here’s how you can do damage control over the mess that is today:

#1. Screw BitcoinTalk ANNs

Well, if you don’t want to, and suffer from co-dependency, don’t screw it. But play it smart at least. There’s life without it, just so you know. You don’t have to follow all the goddamn boring rules. They don’t really work like they used to. But hey, I’m not gonna tell you how to make your bed. Your choice.

#2. Setup Accounts on CrowdSpeaking Platforms

Back in the day, I used Thunderclap.it, but that one’s apparently dead. Seems like the next alternative is SocioKick, where you can basically create a cause and promote the hell out of it through supporters who broadcast your message in a viral way. What you’ll need:

  • a video (heck, you have that from your ICO explainer vid, but can always just lock yourself in your office, or living room and hit record!)
  • some nice content (look into storytelling, here & here are some great guidelines)
  • powerful visuals (look for isometric designs on Dribbble.com)
  • an approved cause (I’m sure your AIM isn’t just to build a decentralized BS, but an amazing BS that will help solve a problem in this goddamn beautiful world)
  • maybe $50 to get your cause approved right away.

#3. Vital Tools of Trade

What else you can use as an additional layer of promotion for your cause:

  • GuestCrew — I’ve known the guys there for a long time, during my digital marketing days, they do a pretty good job at updating their product
  • ViralBee — My friend Ann Smarty knows what we all like, and has an amazing tool + gamified and real users (hehe, I know, right?)
  • GrowthHackers — One of my favorite community tools, and man, I just met up with Anuj Adhiya, Director of Engagement & Analytics at GrowthHackers, in Hong Kong during Unblock Conference by Iskander, 9–10th of September. Such an amazing guy, doing great things. It was a pleasure moderating that whole conference, and getting all the details about the products I like. Hehe
  • BizSugar — I’m amazed at how few people in the space actually know of this little jewel, although I’ll admit the folks could invest some $$ in their UI. But hey, BizSugar votes add to Google rankings. Ssst, you didn’t hear it from me.
Shocking!

#4. To Where From Here?

Now, since you have everything in place, set up your calls to action:

A. Social Cause Bounty.

B. LinkedIn Pulse Bounty.

For A. Tell people to join the cause.

And once you set the distribution time, it will just distribute on everyone’s timelines on FB and Twitter and Tumblr. Or more, depending on the tool you use from point #1.

Remember: You can control the message displayed. And hashtags. So if you don’t want someone spitting nonsense out there about your product, you’re in control. #justsaying

And B. Separately, do a LinkedIn Pulse bounty.

They’ll have to write an article of 300 words about what they like about your project, mention the company, and follow the company page. Additionally, ask them to encourage people to review your company product on ProductHunt. Don’t go like, ewww, you know darn well all of you are either building yet another dApp, or a blockchain protocol, or some platform for xyz purpose. YES, all them belong on ProductHunt.

This gets the benefit of max exposure. :happy face:

#5. Additional Tools & Perks

Additionally, throw them in an app called Smarp and ask them to distribute any Medium posts or social announcements to win points. You can use another similar tool, but this one is actually quite cheap. Highest points holder gets $30-$50 Amazon gift cards.

Also look into systems such as bounty0x, that provide a marketplace + analytics for your campaign. Highly valuable, though I think crowd speaking apps have built-in analytics as well. Doesn’t hurt a safety net, though.

For best practices, I’d invite people directly on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. What to look for:

  • Twitter with minimum 1000 members. Search for people who regularly tweet using: #cryptotwitter #ico #blockchain. Stay away from the #bounty users. You know why.
  • Make a Twitter List with your target users. Easier to track who to reward.
  • LinkedIn with minimum 1,000 followers. That means they have either 1,000 connections of LinkedIn that follow them, or less + people that simply follow them, but not connect.
  • Make a Spreadsheet with their name, email, LinkedIn profile. Interact with their contents 2–3 times before you request to connect, personalize your invite, and once you connect, don’t just jump on them with an offer. Small talk first, offer later.
  • Connect personally with Facebook users and add them to a List. YES, you can create lists on Facebook. It will help you track it when the viral cause campaign goes live.
  • Drop by our Telegram Crypto Networking Group, and tell us a few words about your product, and what you have in store for our members. The guys and I will do our best to help you!

Would take some time but they’re far more valuable than usual bounty hunters. Don’t exclude usual bounty hunters either but improve the process. It’s always about looking for ways to innovate and change what doesn’t work. And yeah, put those tokens to work!

* * * * *

Additionally, sometime in the near future, this amazing new project that I’m advising called Join.Chat will be able to provide an additional interface to bounty campaign management & quality checks. But, before that happens, you should be able to survive just fine with my recommendations.
